He Kokonga Whare Research Programme focused on Māori intergenerational trauma and healing to generate new knowledge on intergenerational impacts amongst Māori. Following the revised review of the Independent Research Organisation (IRO) Fund, Te Atawhai o Te Ao will continue to draw on Māori ways of healing, recovery, and well-being. Under the theme He Kokonga Ngākau, the four new research projects are: Whakamanu Research Project, Whakapapa Research Project, Whakarauora Research Project and the Whakatika Research Project.
The objective of the He Kokonga Ngākau Scholarships and Fellowships is to support and contribute to the four current research projects at Te Atawhai o Te Ao and to grow Māori research capability that promotes Kaupapa Māori research. These awards have been established to support Māori students complete their Masters and Doctoral studies and to support senior students, practitioners, community researchers and or writers in their writing on kaupapa that have relevance to our organisation and wider community.
