This research programme considers Māori ways of healing, recovery, and well-being through four individual research projects, housed under the research programme. These projects are and their research questions are:

  • Wairua: Whānau are utilising spiritual nourishment and reciprocity when looking at well-being
    and healing from trauma
  • Waiata: Whānau are experiencing cultural prosperity through the recovery and healing of holistic, innovative and culturally appropriate method
  • Waiora: Whānau are achieving better health outcomes through environmental well-being and enhancement
  • Waimāori: Whānau are working collaboratively and resiliently to respond to contemporary challenges in achieving their aspirations
  • Waipuna: Whānau draw on holistic, traditional understandings to recognise the importance of physical well-being and body sovereignty
